Paraguay
Paraguay is a landlocked country with enormous social and
economic problems. Though it has abundant natural
resources, basic human needs are not being met. There
is high unemployment and little manufacturing. There are
few factories and most goods are imported. The economy,
infrastructure and educational systems are weak. One of
the greatest needs has to do with orphaned, abandoned or
cast out children. According to Unicef, more than 100,000 children currently live on the
streets of Asuncion, the capital. But there is hope. Harvest Field International is giving
financial and spiritual support to Paraguay. A leading government official in Paraguay
stated, "Where our government is failing, the church is succeeding." We will be partnering
in future projects with Harvest International.
